Koreans living in the United States are opening a new era amidst the rapidly changing waves of the world. Departing from the times when Americans used to inquire about whether we were from the north or south, we are now entering an era where Korea is recognized through cultural icons like Korean dramas and BTS. Despite these positive changes, our Korean community faces significant challenges.
Firstly, we are committed to supporting the senior generation, who have rooted themselves here, especially those who endured the Japanese occupation and the Korean War, so they can lead healthy and independent lives.
Secondly, we aim to help the younger generation growing up in the United States understand and embrace Korean traditional culture and identity, enabling them to thrive on this land.
Lastly, we strive to ensure that the transformed Korean culture, through K-culture, appropriately interacts and shares with American society. The key to addressing all these concerns lies in the establishment of the Kansas Korean American Community Center, a dream project that has been in preparation since 1998 and is now entering its active implementation phase.
We foster a gathering place where our senior generation can support each other, build the next generation, and live independently and healthily with quality information. Expect various programs at the Korean American Community Center, such as adult English classes, senior welfare seminars, and storytelling sessions for grandmothers, to enrich and support their lives.
Through Korean language schools, choir groups, and youth cultural exchange programs, we provide a space where second-generation Koreans can discover their identity and share the beauty and joy of Korean culture.
Korean culture, including K-Pop, K-Food, K-Drama, K-Beauty, and K-Garden, enjoys popularity across the United States. In this space, American teenagers can learn K-Pop dances, middle-aged couples can learn how to use traditional Korean tools, and K-Drama fans can meet their favorite actors, unleashing boundless imagination.
