There was a major development in the Kansas City Korean American community, which was fully funded with a donation of $200,000 agreed by Kansas Youngak Church. The donation of $200,000 agreed by the Kansas Youngrak Church to the Korean American Center was paid in March 2024. With this donation, the total funding increased to $455,000, and left a significant footprint in the construction of the Korean American Center. According to Kim Sung-bae, an elder and former Korean president on behalf of the Kansas Youngrak Church, he expressed his impression that he hoped that the construction of the Korean American Center would help underprivileged community members and the disadvantaged in the community. Chairman Mun Kyung-hwan of the Kansas City Korean American Association expressed his impression that the donation made it possible to further accelerate the possibility of building the Kansas City Korean American Center, and asked for the interest and support of the Korean American community and local community in Kansas. Currently, the Korean American Center Task Force team has been formed to establish the Korean American Center, and they are making great efforts for strategies, sponsorship activities, promotion and operation plans to support the Korean American Center. In particular, after the Korean American Center was built, they are being penalized for membership applications for their own operation. I am currently applying for a grant from UnitedWay to secure funding for the promotion and activities of the Korean American Center, and I am actively working to receive grants from other companies and government agencies. In particular, on April 23, Chairman Mun Kyung-hwan and Vice Chairman Lee Ju-hyeon of the Korean Society met with Vice President Jeremy Slagoski so that the KC Arirang Festival, which promotes Korean culture in Kansas, can be held at the University of Missouri KC, and as a result, they are promoting Korean culture to mainstream communities and the Korean community in the Kansas community. A website containing the vision and operation plan for the Korean American Center is being created, and promotional materials are being organized and produced. If you have any questions about sponsoring the construction of the Korean American Center, moving in, or if you can help in any way, please email the Korean American Association at kckasociety@gmail.com or contact the Korean American Chairman, Chairman Mun Kyung-hwan (913-251-7871).
