Director Kim Rak-gon of Chicago's KOTRA (Korea Trade and Investment Promotion Agency) visited Kansas City to expand cooperation and investment between Kansas City and Korean companies. The visit was organized by the Kansas City Korean Association with KCADC (Kansas City Area Development Council), and Joshua Do, Chairman of the Korean Society for Foreign Cooperation, and Korean Chairman Mun Kyung-hwan played key roles.

During his visit, Director Kim Rak-gon met with KC Aviation Department, Garmin's headquarters, the 2026 Kansas City FIFA World Cup Preparatory Committee, World Trade Center, the Kansas Department of Commerce, and Kansas Vice Governor David Toland to explore business and investment possibilities in the region. In particular, regarding the idea of “establishing a Korea-only industrial complex in the US” proposed by Director Kim, Kansas Vice Governor David Toland revealed his intention to support an industrial complex dedicated to Korean companies using the site near Panasonic's EV factory, and shared plans to promote active investment by Korean companies.

It is expected that Korean companies' interest in Kansas City and Kansas will expand through this visit. Chairman Joshua Do of Foreign Affairs and Korean Chairman Mun Kyung-hwan, who led the visit, expressed “I hope that more Korean companies will find investment and cooperation opportunities in the Kansas City region in the future.”
